The Madison Hotel is named after James Madison the fourth President of the United States and "Father of the Constitution." This one-of-a-kind property opened in 1963. Like a grand mansion of yesteryear, the Madison Hotel has rare antiques and works of art that have been carefully collected over the years on display throughout the hotel. Some pieces include several rare Louis XVI furnishings and a magnificent lobby chandelier hanging above a Chinese Imperial altar table. The hotel's Federal Period décor is reminiscent of James and Dolly Madison's stately Virginia home, Montpelier.

The Madison Hotel is located just five blocks from the White House and about ten blocks from the National Mall, the park that stretches about two-and-one-half miles from the Lincoln Memorial to the U.S. Capitol Building. In addition to the National Monuments, the attractions in this famous park also include the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, the Smithsonian, the Air and Space Museum, the Museum of American History and the National History Museum. The hotel is also within walking distance to the Farragut North Metro stop. Washington DC's Metrorail has over 75 stations traveling 100 miles around the metro area. There are stops near almost every attraction. The MCI Sports Center is 11 blocks away. Georgetown is about two miles away. Reagan National Airport is seven miles, Washington Dulles Airport is 25 miles and Baltimore Washington International Airport is 35 miles away.

The Madison Hotel Accommodations

The Madison Hotel has 353 rooms including 30 suites. Guest rooms feature custom- made Williamsburg, English Regency and French Provencal period furniture. Room amenities include extra deep bathtubs, bathrobes, mini-bars, alarm clocks, hair dryers, make-up mirrors, heated towel racks, bathroom scales and umbrellas.

The Madison Hotel Suites

The Madison Hotel has 30 suites including two Presidential Suites (the Royal Suite and the Madison Suite), twelve Large Suites and sixteen Junior Penthouse Suites. The Royal Suite can expand to 1600 square feet with 3 bedrooms and has a terrace with city views. The Madison Suite has 1300 square feet as a two-bedroom suite. The large suites have 985 square feet and also expand to 1300 square feet with a second bedroom. Half of the Junior Penthouse Suites have terraces.

The Madison Hotel Dining

The Retreat Restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner in a casual setting. The Lobby Lounge serves light gourmet lunches, high tea and cocktails. Room Service is available 24 hours.
